I've used the 884 and now own a ATX 95. My personal experience was the 884 was a huge disappointment. When using the Kowa I had it next to the Meopta S2 I owned at the time. There were tough veiling haze conditions looking towards a setting sun. The Kowa plain sucked in those conditions. The Meopta S2 was far superior. My ATX is better than ...
The Swarovski Modular Scopes are revolutionary modular design, phenomenal optical performance, huge field of view, great depth of field, very short close.. ... means that the 95 has a smaller field of view. That's just how it is. ... Kowa's amazing 88-mm scopes redefine the top
The X-series scopes are a bit heavier than comparable models in Swarovski's earlier TM and TS series, but are about three centimeters shorter. For the 65 mm models the weight difference is a little under 200 g and the ATX 85 weighs roughly the same as Kowa's 88 mm and Zeiss's 85 mm scopes. The ATX 95 weighs
Page 1 of 2 - Swarovski ATX 95 v.s. TMB 92SS - posted in Refractors : I acquired a new spotting scope after I read interesting binoscope project done by a Japanese guy. He made a binoscope with a pair of Swarovski modular spotting scope objective lens modules (95mm aperture, I think it is f/5.8) with Matsumoto-sans EMS binoscope visual back.
Between the two, the Kowa gets the very slight edge on optical performance, with its astounding chromatic aberration control. However, the Swarovski is right behind the Kowa, with equal levels of resolution, and a comfortable viewing experience.
Being that I wanted something more compact for hiking with a backpack I was looking for a 65mm scope. I had been debating between the Vortex Razor HD Angled 16-48X65 spotter and the Swarovski HD ATS 20-60X65 spotter. The Vortex of course is only $1199 which is close to half the price of the $2200 Swarovski. So now it came down to the real test ...
Side by side the KOWA finds game better in low light situations. I have tested the Swarovski warranty and it is without peers. I have yet to need the Kowa warranty services but in the mean time that $1000 savings bought a Winchester Model 70 in 300 Weatherby with a Leopold VX III 4.5-14x40 scope.
As I write this, the new ATX and STX X-Series Swarovski Spotting Scopes should start arriving on USA soil in mid-to-late September. The Outdoorsmans has already placed their order and started a waiting list (800-291-8065). This will be a high-demand product and it will likely take a while to fill the pipeline, so get you name on the list.
Got the opportunity to re-test some scopes (Kowa 883, Zeiss Diascope 85, Leica APO Televid 82, Swarovski ATS 80 HD Swarovski ATX 85 and ATX 95) today.. Zeiss does not suit me at all for several different reasons and I get blackouts with the 25 …

Obviously, Swarovski makes a wonderful product, but if you are truly wanting the finest spotting scope available, it would be a shame to not look through a Kowa 88 with the wide angle zoom eyepiece. FWIW, I've got a 15 year old Nikon ED82 that will hold its own with an STS 80HD, so don't be afraid to think outside the box.
Kowa is a good scope but Swarovski optics are significantly better IMO. I have 80mm and a 65mm HD with 25-50x eyepiece and a 25x LER eyepiece that I can swap as needed. Kowa ss are used by lots of high power shooters but …
If you search at the Swaro forum you will find Kimmo's review that the Swato 95 has higher resolution than the Kowa, both at 60x. For higher magnifications/resolutions, the Kowa has the advantage of the 1.6x extender and that can receive astronomical eyepieces - see
The Kowa spotting scope and TE-11WZ combination pulled amazing Jupiter image sharpness/cleanness around on-axis. I can't believe how good image this small spotting scope can give. Tammy. Tammy, It would be interesting if you will compare the Kowa 88 to your Swaro 95, for astro use...
Kowa Spotting Scope Series. Kowa offers a wide range of available scopes and six main sizes with 88mm, 82mm, 77mm, 66mm, 60mm and 50mm objective lens diameters. In its entirety, Kowa offers 20 spotting scope models, but most are sold as body only.. For convenience, each size forms part of a series and you can choose either angled or straight body designs.
The Swarovski 95 on the right has a protective glass layer over the objective to prevent scratching the expensive fluorite lens, while the Kowa's 99mm objective is exposed maximizing brightness and image quality. The Swarovski ATX renders colors slightly cooler than the Kowa TSN-99.
(0.995) x Power of 10 = 0.95 95% Prisms Kowa use the Schmidt-Pechan prism design that is made up of both BaK-4 and SK15 prisms, which uses excellent quality glass for a superior optical performance, but like most roof prism designs has one drawback in that one surface of the Pechan prism does not provide total reflection.
Kimmo have compared the X85 to the Kowa 88, here at BF. ... depends what you're planning to do with it. We put a swaro 95 and a kowa 88 side by side last year in Colorado and kowa was significantly better at higher power in low light. My uncle owned the swaro and has since sold it to get a kowa. Jul 21, 2017
At each magnification (25x, 50x, 60x), which are available in the 65mm and the 85mm objective components, we found we could resolve at as much detail as with other great scopes, such as the Leica Televid and the Kowa Prominar, which also go up only to 50x or 60x. However, with the 95mm Swarovski, you can crank the magnification up to 70x. And ...
The Watchers Digest just did a review on high end spotters. I believe the new $3400 Leica and the Kowa mentioned were determined best. Considering my neighbors Zeiss goes for $2200 minimum, and I got my Nikon 82 ED for $1000, I consider it the best value in an alpha spotter available, and it is fantastic.
Page 1 of 2 - 115mm BTX vs Kowa Highlander Prominar - posted in Binoculars: Good morning! Another day, another question to consider The 115mm module for the Swarovski BTX is fairly new, and Ive yet to find much to read about it regarding astro performance. I have read Pinacs thread on performance from the 95mm, and it has definitely piqued my interest.
Jul 7, 2010. Messages. 166. Nov 28, 2012. #1. What do you experienced hunters and shooters think you would chose between a Zeiss victory diascope 65fl t versus the kowa tsn 664 prominar. The Zeiss is a 15 x45 x 65 while the kowa 20 x 60 x 66. This is mostly for hunting and packing. Both get superior reviews with only the swaro being higher.

Quote Reply Topic: meopta S2 scope vs swarovski ATX 95 Posted: February/23/2013 at 07:25 Hi everyone, I'm planning on purchasing a top-of-the-line spotting scope, weight is unimportant as I won't be humping it into the mountains or on hikes, (probably will eventually pick up a Nikon ED 50 for that) mostly having it with me in my truck during ...
I compared the Henny Spotter 45 and Spotter 60 to the Swarovski STR 80 and the Hensoldt Spotter 60 is my top choice. The Henny is a more compact and ruggedized military design that has top notch glass, plus I like the fact that the reticle is there at all times vs the Swarovski that is illuminated only.
